Watching The Morning Come

I sailed a schooner through the Gulf of Mexico

'Neath a crescent moon

I tracked her right through the Panama Canal

Trying to find you

Who knows where it all goes

Or where we really do come from

What's this dream that woke up with me

Watching the morning come

Was it pride or maybe jealousy

That drove you from my arms

Anyway it's too late now

We never can change what's done

I've been first and I've been last

That's just a part of the game

But honey it's this living in between

That's killing me

And if I could change the world

I'd bring you back to me

But something's gone that I can only

            Find in my dreams

You see I sailed a schooner through the Gulf of Mexico

'Neath a crescent moon

I tracked her right through the Panama Canal

Trying to find you

Who knows where it all goes

Or where we really do come from

Well it's just a  dream that woke up with me

Watching the morning come
