Old Friends

Which way is up

And which is down

Is not that clear sometimes

What is in

And what is out

Is ever changing with the times

            But old friends

            Never seem to waver

They just stand against the wind

            And you can take

Your shoes off if you want to

            With old friends

Out on the street

The other day

I came upon an old flame

There was a time

Her heart was mine

But now she hardly knew my name

            But old friends

            Never leave you lonesome

They'll be with you til the end

            And you can leave

            Your heart wide open

            With old friends

                        The tide rolls in

                        And the tide goes out

While this old world just spins

                        We celebrate the good

And get through the hard times

                        With our friends

            Old friends

            Never leave you lonesome

They'll be with you til the end

            And you're forgiven

            Before you ask ‘em

            That's old friends
