Momma I'm Comin' Home

I left home with the wind at my back

And the sun splashed in my face

Sure that the blood of a hero

Coursed through my veins

But it wasn't long before I came to know

Things don't always go like we plan

And it's a mighty fine line sometimes

Between hell and the promised land

            I remain undefeated

Though I did stumble and fall

And I need some time to put down this load

            So Momma I'm comin' home

I have spent too much time by myself

And wandered too long alone

In search of the truth

That was right there inside of me all along

'Now don't you worry everything's alright

I' m just taking time

To catch my breath

And to remember who I am

I need to walk across your green fields

And feel the grass beneath my feet

And to set my spirit free and let it roam

            So momma I'm comin' home

It's good to know that there's a place

                        Where I'll always belong

Thank God we never get too old

That we can't go back home

            I remain undefeated

Though I did stumble and fall

And I need some time to put down this load

            So Momma I'm comin' home
