In Virginia

Two lane blacktops disappear

Like silver ribbons off into

The storybook blue

Green and golden hillside

Splendor in the Blue Ridge autumn

Whispers as the leaves are falling

That it's time to come on back

Home where I belong

            I've been gone so long

            I swear I don't recall

Just what I was searchin' for

            But as the shadows lengthened

            Across the Shenandoah

            I found it in Virginia

I sense your ancient mysteries

In the air and in the trees

As I gaze into

A slowly sinking sunset

And there's a song in the wind

That's giving my spirit wings

And a voice inside of me

Calling me back home

(Repeat Chorus)

I have travelled near and far

                        To sooth my restless soul

But I've never seen the beauty

                        Of my Virginia home

            I've been gone so long

            I swear I don't recall

Just what I was searchin' for

            But as the shadows lengthened

            Across the Shenandoah

            I found it in Virginia
