One Goodnight

My children are in bed til light

Beside me sit for only right

This lonely life is all the while

And you may stay til one goodnight

Tender words and sup o' wine

A gentleman made in my mind

But a fever strange embraced his eyes

And turned my tongue to one goodnight

            Promiscuity's for naught

No more shall I taste the loss

To live in fortitude for best

For my children they will learn my breath

By my hand and strength of will

I put him down and he lay still

Morning comes and I survive

He remains but oh not I

            Promiscuity's for naught

No more shall I taste the loss

To live in fortitude for best

For my children they will learn my breath

In my car we drove away

From a man who begged to stay

One goodnight was not to be

But a promise to myself I pleased

(Chorus)

(Chorus)

For my children they will learn my breath...
