Daddy's Blues

I hitchhiked in from Knoxville

Walked every mile from Crossville

Will you give me one quarter for some wine

You see I'm shakin' and kinda sick-like

I lost my will to try

And these shorter days are chillin' me tonight

'Cause my Daddy played that damn guitar

And he drank like any ol' fool

He wasn't fit to be a star

So he sat on that barstool

The only thing he left me

            Was wonderin' what to do

So I'm in this world out walkin'

            In my Daddy's blues

Hey buddy, you gotta smoke

No thanks I gotta light

My sister won't let me come back home

Mama's mind's about gone

And I know I've done wrong

But it's too late to change what I've become

'Cause my Daddy played that damn guitar

And he drank like any ol' fool

He wasn't fit to be a star

So he sat on that barstool

The only thing he left me

            Was wonderin' what to do

So I'm in this world out walkin'

            In my Daddy's blues

I hitchhiked in from Knoxville

Walked every mile from Crossville...
