Me and the Missus

It was a long way down the ladder

I didn't fall this far in a day

Lost some in the army

And gambled some away

Lost some in a fire

On the other side of town

When some old fool got crazy and burned the mission down

Me and the missus travellin' ‘round

Sleepin' right out back of the best joints in town

The people ride on by us

And my the names we're called

But as long as I don't lose her

                        I'm no loser at all

The lady that you see me with

Got here in a similar style

Her daddy beat hear as a baby

And a drunkard beat her wild

I guess you'd say she beat the odds

Even making it this far

And now I thank this lady for every beat of my heart

Me and the missus travellin' ‘round

Sleepin' right out back of the best joints in town

The people ride on by us

And my the names we're called

But as long as I don't lose her

                        I'm no loser at all
