It's Over

She came home this evening

With the leaving in her eyes

And I know that I won't soon forget

Our very last goodbye

‘Cause it wasn't like the movies

We didn't run each other down

We didn't stand there yellin

Throwin' dishes all around

You know the hardest thing about it all was seeing

How easy leaving comes

            I guess you don't need a highway

            You don't need a long good-bye

Honey you don't need to lie awake

With a thousand tears to cry

            And you don't need a window-bustin' scene

On the cover of a magazine

Just to know when it really means

            That it's over

You know we didn't go to pieces

We didn't go half wild

And we didn't call each other names

And act like a little child

You know the hardest thing about it all was seeing

How easy leaving comes

            I guess you don't need a highway

            You don't need a long good-bye

Honey you don't need to lie awake

With a thousand tears to cry

            And you don't need a window-bustin' scene

On the cover of a magazine

Just to know when it really means

            That it's over
