Fallen Starlet

It was about four years ago

That you came in to town

You and I were always holding hands

And hangin' ‘round

Until the king of Hollywood came to our favorite bar

He called you a twentieth-century fox

You smiled now you're a star

So now you're in the money

Your name way up in lights

                        Everybody's honey

                        And Hollywood's delight

But when there's no more offers

                        And no more curtain calls

I'll be hear to catch my fallen starlet when she falls

Opened the mail just the other day

Sat down and had me a laugh

I thank you for your picture

I love your autograph

But I thought your name was Doris

I thought your hair was brown

You've been through a change or two

Way out in tinsel town'

So now you're in the money

Your name way up in lights

                        Everybody's honey

                        And Hollywood's delight

But when there's no more offers

                        And no more curtain calls

I'll be hear to catch my fallen starlet when she falls
